The Obama “call tool” allows supporters to make cold calls from home, but a local Florida Tea Party leader is using the phone list to pitch Romney. “Think of what we could do if 100 of us did this for an hour each day.”

Bob Kingsbury, New Hampshire Republican, Says Kindergarten Leads To Higher Crime [UPDATED]

justinspoliticalcorner:

A Republican New Hampshire state legislator told a county convention Monday evening that kindergarten leads to higher crime rates.

Rep. Bob Kingsbury (R-Laconia) told the Belknap County Convention that research he’s been conducting for the last 16 years has led him to believe that kindergarten programs leads to higher crime rates, theLaconia Daily Sun reported. Kingsbury, one of the more conservative legislators in the Tea Party-controlled House, said that his analysis was of local crime rates in communities that offered kindergarten versus those that do not offer the educational program.

“We’re taking children away from their mothers too soon,” Kingsbury said, who also linked higher crime to the lack of boxing classes in high schools

Kingsbury’s comments came during a discussion over whether or not to build a new county jail and why inmate populations continue to rise. He said he shared his research with other legislators when he tried to fight mandatory kindergarten in the state.

Kingsbury, 86, has a history of supporting ideas that differ from his fellow legislators. In January, he partnered with two allies of birther queen Orly Taitz to push a bill partially ending the direct election of U.S. senators. Kingsbury said that he believed that all U.S. Senate candidates should first be picked by the state legislature and then put up for popular vote.

Both Democrats in the race, Maggie Hassan and Jackie Cilley, have called on Lamontagne to address the comments while condemning Kingsbury. Hassan called Kingsbury’s comparison “quite frankly ridiculous” in a statement and suggested that Lamontagne will try to roll back kindergarten requirements as governor.

Cilley went on Twitter to express her support for Kindergarten. “Just to be clear, I absolutely support kindergarten, and do not believe it increases crime,” Cilley said in a tweet.

So who’s shocked? The DOJ is suing Florida now over their purge, and more purges are expected.

The aim is nothing more than preventing non-white voters from voting. Period.

And if you’re a gay man wanting to marry another gay man, how does that impact me personally? You know, it doesn’t … It’s not about whether I’m Catholic or whether or not the party platform says this or whether or not the Democrats were the ones who brought it in the first place. All of that’s really irrelevant.
Tea Party member Tammy Simmons was one of the New Hampshire legislatures who defeated a gay marriage repeal in that state.  (via cheatsheet)

Herman Cain’s Campaign Promises with Mike Tyson from Mike Tyson

cognitivedissonance:

Herman Cain’s campaign promises, starring Mike Tyson. This is pure magic:

“Hello. I’m Herman Cain, the man who’s shouting number nine in your TV… I’m leading in the Republican polls. Why? Because the Tea Party loves crazy more than they hate blacks. And I’m crazier than a shithouse rat!”

Koch brothers are close to launching a nationwide database connecting millions of Americans who share their anti-government and libertarian views

The network is called “Themis.”

The database will bring together information from a plethora of right-wing groups, tea party organisations and conservative-leaning thinktanks. Each one has valuable data on their membership – including personal email addresses and phone numbers, as well as more general information useful to political campaign strategists such as occupation, income bracket and so on.

By pooling the information, the hope is to create a data resource that is far more potent than the sum of its parts. Themis will in effect become an electoral roll of right-wing America, allowing the Koch brothers to further enhance their power base in a way that is sympathetic to, but wholly independent of, the Republican party.

"This will take time to fully realise, but it has the potential to become a very powerful tool in 2012 and beyond," said the new technology specialist.

TEA PARTIERS vs. 99%ers

arewepayingattention:

How to compare and contrast America’s two “populist” movements — the Tea Party movement vs. the Occupy Wall Street/We are the 99%ers movement…

- Both are angry at Wall Street bailouts, American plutocracy, and our whorish two-party system.

- One blames the poor, immigrants, unions, non-Christians and Americans who happen to be liberal for what’s wrong; the other blames Wall Street, plutocrats. and whorish politicians.

- One is funded by right-wing billionaires and corporate money; the other isn’t really funded by anybody.

- One got major media coverage (lead by FOX) even when they could only produce a few hundred people at a rally in Washington, DC; the other got almost no media coverage even when they produced demonstrations coast to coast.

- One shouted down Democratic constituent town meetings, threatened secession, packed guns, somehow were never hassled by police, and were called “patriots;” the other came without guns, threatened no one, appealed to American ideals, got arrested, and were called “mobs.”

- One trades on what divides us because they are proxies for powerful interests who benefit from public division; the other appeals to what unites us because they still believe in an American Promise which actually includes all Americans.
